College of Agricultural Engineering Technology, Mungeli

This college has started since academic session 2007-08 with the admission of the PET qualified students, through counseling conducted in Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur for B. Tech. (Agricultural Engineering) four year degree programme.

Initially the name of the college was “College of Agricultural Engineering, IGKV, Mungeli. After completion of all the formalities of donation of 30.00 acre land and cash amount of Rs. 60.00 lacs as (Rs. 20 lacs have been received as per agreement between trust and VV), by Bhawani Sao Ramlal Sao Dharmada trust, Mungeli the college has been renamed as “Bhawani Sao Ramlal Sao Memorial College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, IGKV, Mungeli” on 31.03.2008.

The qualification for the admission in the college is as per the norms mentioned on Pre Engineering Test rule book published by state Government. After assessment of the availability of the infrastructure and initial facility at Mungeli town, finally it was decided that from academic session 2007-2008 the college may be started at Faculty of Agricultural Engineering Building at IGKV Raipur. It was further decided that as soon as the minimum facilities are created or an alternative arrangement is made, the college will be shifted to Mungeli town. Accordingly, the first batch of 23 students (19 nos. boys & 04 nos. girls) for the degree program of B. Tech. (Agricultural Engineering) was admitted in this college on 25.09.2007 (Date of Counseling: 10-11 August 07 & Date of Registration: 25.09.2007). During academic session 2008-09 total 42 nos. students have been admitted at state/VV level and 02 students have joined after their selection through ICAR.

The University has appointed to Dr. Vinay K. Pandey as Dean of this college on 11.07.08. Prior to this Dr. Pandey has served this college as OSD/ Nodal Officer from 11.07.07 to 13.07.08. The university has provided 18 Nos. of non teaching staff to the college.

The orientation programme of the first year students was organized on 23.10.07. Hon’ble Vice chancellor, IGKV was the chief guest of the function. Director research, Director Extension, Dean Students welfare, Director Instruction, Dean Faculty of Agricultural, Dean faculty of Agricultural engineering, Dean College of Dairy Technology, All HODS and faculty members were present during the function. The students were briefed about the degree programme and other activities of the college.

All other activities pertaining to the students i.e. sports, cultural, NSS etc. are also being carried out smoothly according to the availability of the resources. The examinations of both semesters of first year students have been arranged smoothly. In university level meeting after a long discussion it is decided to run all courses recommended by fourth dean’s committee. As an alternative system a committee of I.G.K.V, Raipur marked some buildings for college and hostel. The efforts are going on with collector, Bilaspur, SDM, Mungeli and officers of the concern departments to take these buildings on rent. The Dean has regular meet with Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Registrar, comptroller and relating officer about budget, requisition of different posts and progress of the work to take necessary decision. The Tenders have been invited for the procurements equipments. The counseling held for the new session 2008-09 first semester and admission process has been completed. College has organized orientation programme for the 1st year Students. In academic council meeting held at university different academic activities related the college have been discussed. University level committee meeting has been held on account of academic regulation. The Dean of the college has discussed on different aspect and took necessary decisions. The books of various subject pertaining to B.Tech.(Agril. Engg.) degree has been bought for the library.

The setup for the college was received on 20.05.08 from the Government of Chhattisgarh and accordingly the same was notified by the IGKV, on 01.07.08. The inaugural and laying down the foundation stone function of the College was organized on April 09, 2008 at Mungeli. The Chief Minister of the Chhattisgarh Government was the Chief Guest of the function. During the inaugural function, Chief Minister has announced to provide another 45 acre Govt. land available adjoining to the land already donated by the B.R. Sao trust Mungeli to this college. The processes for transfer of this land to the IGKV is in progress.
